An Introduction - Kamala Das

A "confessional" poet, Kamala Das' s poems always portrait powerful feminist images, focusing on critiques of marriage, motherhood, women's relationships to their bodies and power over their sexuality, and the roles women are offered in traditional Indian society. Her provocative poetry has seldom produced lukewarm responses. One of her poems that I can't help reading over and over again: An Introduction - Kamala Das I don’t know politics but I know the names Of those in power, and can repeat them like Days of week, or names of months, beginning with Nehru.
